Lactation and Infant feeding Services

Infant Feeding and Lactation Support

At Thrive of New England, we understand that successful feeding is a team effort, and caregiver support is a vital part of that journey. Our infant feeding, and lactation services extend beyond just the mother-baby dyad; we offer guidance and support to all caregivers—partners, grandparents, and other family members—who are involved in the feeding process. We recognize that each caregiver plays a unique role in fostering a positive, supportive environment for both mother and baby.

infant feeding Services

Our services include assessment and treatment of infant feeding skills and oral motor development. We assess your infant’s feeding skills in regards to sucking, swallowing, and coordination during feeding. We will evaluate your infant’s ability to manage oral skills necessary for feeding and identify any issues that may lead to complications, such as aspiration or poor weight gain. Therapeutic techniques are utilized to improve oral motor function, such as exercises to strengthen oral muscles, recommending proper feeding positions, and helping with feeding strategies tailored to your infant’s needs.

Most importantly, we take the time to educate parents on proper feeding techniques and how to best your infant’s feeding skills.

Lactation Services

Our services include working with the mother-infant dyad to assist with breastfeeding and lactation. We will assess the feeding and provide assistance with latch issues, nipple pain, milk supply concerns, establishing effective breastfeeding routines, and managing common challenges, such as engorgement or mastitis.

We take a holistic approach, addressing both the physical and emotional aspects of breastfeeding, to ensure you and your baby are supported in a way that fosters a positive, successful nursing experience. Our goal is to empower you with the knowledge, confidence, and tools needed for a smooth and enjoyable breastfeeding journey.
